The problem arises in mathematics with theorems such as the prime number theorem, created by Gauss to view the distance between prime numbers. Theorems are inductive reasoning, which create premises for deductive reasoning; therefore the question arises as to how close we really can get to certainty in mathematics. This theorem has been tested; however it could only be tested for a number of trials. Though we have gotten very far with this theory, into the billions and it has worked, there are always ways it can be proven wrong. Based on the fact that this theorem is mostly inductive reasoning, it is not certain. Therefore, doubt can be expected. Doubt should be expected in even a subject of certainty such as mathematics, the questions lead us to answers. With Gauss problem one might use doubt to analyze the equation, using reason and analytical thinking, to find prime numbers in order to view the methods in which finding prime numbers is used. In this way, they achieve a closer relation to knowledge. However, doubt cannot lead us to an extreme where we doubt everything in life. If a boy spent the rest of his life trying to find if Gauss was correct, he would not only waste his life but he would never find the answer. This being said we can also not expect someone to be completely doubt free, the thought that one knows all knowledge is impossible. To some extent, I kind of feel proud of myself. I started out with nothing and worried as hell that I wouldn’t be able to do the job well but here I am now – the webmaster. the guru. I was already looking forward to extending my sleeping hours in the morning but it didn’t surprise me anymore that again, something came up.So what else is new, right? I t was lunch time already when we finished and since we had to leave already and could no longer wait for after lunch, we decided to leave a note instead. Visual Arts - Essay Example In this visual report, I would be comparing and contrasting 2 ancient vases to learn about them and get a better understanding of the same. The first piece of art is a ceramic amphora dating back to c. 540 BCE. This amphora was of Greek origin and had the painting of Dionysos with a pair of Maenads that was created by Amasis Painter. I chose to visualize and describe this particular vase because of its captivating contrast of colors of rich cream contrasted with black. The vase itself had a smooth fluidity in relation to its height and size which compelled me to use it as my visual art piece. The second piece of art that I had chosen to compare and contrast is a Korean Maebyeong Bottle that was decorated with a spray of bamboo in addition to a Plum tree in blossom. The reason for choosing this vase was because I liked the delicate painting which was done in a dull olive green which was so pretty and soothing to my eyes. The Greek amphora had a height of 13† (33.3cms) and was fr om the Bibliotheque National, Paris. The contour of the vase’s body was gorgeously decorated with the figures of the Greek God of Wine, Dionysos featured on the left sporting a beard and holding a wine glass in his hand, while the two Maenads, were to the right, and clad in 2 dark garments which were intricately detailed in presentation. One of the Maenads was seen holding a hare, while the other held a deer. On a closer look I also saw that each of them held a sprig of ivy between their fingers. The technique used here was contrasting dark figures against a light background. The pale green vase was created during the late 12th and early 13th century and belonged to the Goryeo dynasty. This art piece which I found quite attractive was basically an inlaid celadon ware which had a light background of grayish stoneware, that had an inlaid decoration of black and white slips, hidden under the celadon glaze. The technique which was formerly invented by the Chinese was used for thi s vase. This technique became a Korean specialty that enhanced the beauty of the vase to a great extent. This beautiful art piece had a height of 13† and a quarter (33.7cms) and is housed in the Tokyo National Museum in Tokyo, Japan. (The Arts of Korea, pg. 369) My analysis of the first vase which was a vessel used by the Greeks, was based on the decorative style which was bold as it was contrasting. I really liked the way the artist contrasted dark figures with a soft background. The spiral designs were aesthetically arranged so as to frame the composition and enable the viewer to focus on the figures in the center. I was also quite attracted to the border patterns of grape leaves both at the bottom and top of the vase which served to bring a uniqueness to this art piece, by making it all the more attractive. 3 My analysis of the second vase with the bamboo decoration was that it had the influence of Chinese ceramics because of its appearance. On closer scrutiny I found that the vase was embellished with inlaid decoration of both bamboo and plum blossoms which contrasted against each other thus making the design to stand out and be noticed. The contrasting came from an under-glaze design from slips of black and white that was made from clay which was ground finely. This seemed to be a special technique used by the potters which is what made this art piece so unique in its design. In the Greek vase, the element that kept recurring was the use of dark figures that was framed with circular designs and borders to offset the composition. In the Korean amphora, the recurring element that was made use of was the inlaying of dark and white strips that were glazed to give it a unique appearance. There are also regulations in terms of the requirements asked for being a public teacher, the education syllabus of the country, etc. Police Police is a government regulated service to the population which is part of the arm forces of a country. Its function is to assure security to the population. However, in some countries where there is scarce resources allocated to this public entity, private police petrol are created. In Peru even in rural areas where police is not present, communities organize themselves to fight against crime. Energy efficiency of appliances Energy is a strategic scarce resource for a country. Therefore, the importance of having government regulations to control it, its tariffs while having private companies supplying the service in order to assure this service on the long term to the community. Health care coverage Health care is a private and public good also. Government provides health care services to the majority of the population by building public hospitals and providing insurance coverage programs. Television advertising It is a consumer sovereignty good, driven basically by program ratings and market price. Usually, the government owns public television channels but even in those cases the advertising is not controlled. We think that in the examples mentioned, a mixed economy of public and private goods is the best to make services accessible to the whole population while having a market driven economy. However, if we customized this question to the Peruvian reality, we think that an example where government could intervene more is the banking regulations entity which should improve the credit policies in order to create a sustainable finance growth. 2. Question 3. This chapter discusses many â€Å"market failures† areas in which the invisible hand guides the economy poorly, and describes the role of government. It is possible that there are, as well, â€Å"government failures† government attempts to curb market failures that are worse than the original market failures? Friday evening. You decided to have a dinner with your friends at the new restaurant. You are promptly seated at the table in a corner and are given menus. Happy mood helps to enjoy the evening. What a varied menu you have here: juicy burgers, foot-long sandwiches, salads, steaks, grilled ribs in barbecue sauce, grilled chicken ... Oh, wait! You are a vegetarian. You are not allowed to eat meat. Your evening is destroyed. Your friends are laughing at you while you’re finishing the second plate of salad, while they are playing with pork ribs. You’ve already prepared to listen to their jokes about vegetarians and answer multiple questions why you stopped eating meat. The situation above often occurred to me. Before I chose a restaurant, I tried to find out what food was served there. I was vegetarian for over five years. And all these five years I ate no fish, no meat, no chicken, but only vegetables, fruits, nuts and cereals. I thought such an abundance of nutrient was sufficient for my organism, but my body was saying otherwise. A few months later, after the rejection of meat food and consumption of vegetables only, I started to feel the malnutrition. Hunger followed me constantly. Despite the fact that I could eat a lot, a half an hour later, I was so hungry and had to look for something else to eat. Then, health problems began. Depression, emotional imbalance, fatigue, weakness, apathy, poor sleep – this was just a small list of disorders that I have gained by eating vegetables. When I stopped eating meat, I didn’t know what it was like to be a vegetarian. I wasn’t aware of what I should have eaten and how. During this lo ng five years, I learned a lot about vegetarianism and found out it’s not even close to what people think i... ...rom harmful thoughts and teaches the discipline and the patience. It’s important to remember that vegetarianism is a short-term diet and should not be extended over a long period of time. Otherwise, it will bring harm and destruction to the body. Vegetarianism taught me a good lesson. I began to feel my body and to listen to its signals. I am pleased to share my experiences with my friends. I try to show them the pros and cons of this diet. Smart people learn in someone’s mistake. I wasn’t smart enough and started five-year long experiment to understand how it’s like to be a vegetarian. At the end of my â€Å"journey†, I came up to conclusion that good nutrition should be diversified. We can not live without vegetables, eating only meat and vice versa. We need to combine meat products with plant food in order to maintain healthy lifestyle and enjoy our lives in full.

This was one of the main reasons of disagreement between Hernan and Alexey. Also the language interpretation was one of problems that increased the misunderstanding. The resistance by both individuals to discuss the problem face to face and resorting to emails did not help the situation either. To diffuse the situation Emilio should meet with Alexey and Hernan and take into consideration both their view points about the disagreement. All three should work collaboratively and resolve to a common ground where they all agree. Emilio should also discourage communication via emails which increases tension among employees in situations of disagreement. When different cultures are brought to work together, leadership plays a critical role to ensure team work. International businesses are facing new challenges to their internal communication structures due to major reforms brought about through internationalization, downsizing, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. Lack of investment in cross cultural training and language tuition often leads to deficient internal cohesion. The internal conflicts, poor working relations, misunderstandings, stress, poor productivity and lack of co-operation are all by products of poor cross cultural communication. Training – Emilio has to adopt various trainings to promote effective communication and teamwork. Individual development – the executives should be trained on different cultures. Their knowledge of different cultures be constantly be upgraded. Encourage strong intercultural relationships. Language training – all employees should be trained on language together. The Russians and Argentines should be trained on English language together so that communication becomes easier among them. Encourage discussions between them and ensure they maintain strong eye contact. Bring in outside experts – Use training content and delivery by specialists with direct experience and indepth knowledge of both Argentine and Russian cultures as well as expertise in the field of cross-cultural communication. Integrate training into new employee orientation – for both Intersoft and Orgland integrate training of Argentine and Russian cultures a part of regular induction processes for new employees. Reinforce the training with mentoring – ensure that training is effective by a continued effort of mentoring by forming teams of argentine and Russian counterparts to work together on projects and office activities like organizing an event or party, etc. Incorporate the best of both cultures: Emilio has the advantage to adopt the best aspects of both cultures into Intersoft. Office environment – The layout of Intersoft did not promote team work as the Argentines were seated together and the Russians sat together.

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Essay

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (born April 5, 1947) is a Filipino politician who served as the14th President of the Philippines from 2001 to 2010, as the 12th Vice President of the Philippines from 1998 to 2001, and is currently a member of the House of Representativesrepresenting the 2nd District of Pampanga. She was the country’s second female president (after Corazà ³n Aquino), and the daughter of former President Diosdado Macapagal. After serving as a senator from 1992 to 1998, she was elected to the vice presidency under President Joseph Estrada, despite having run on an opposing ticket. After Estrada was accused of corruption, she resigned her cabinet position asSecretary of Social Welfare and Development and joined the growing opposition to the president, who faced impeachment. Estrada was soon forced from office by the EDSA Revolution of 2001, and Arroyo was sworn into the presidency by Chief Justice Hilario Davide, Jr. on January 20, 2001. She was elected to a full six-year presidential term in the controversial May 2004 Philippine elections, and was sworn in on June 30, 2004. Following her presidency she was elected to the House of Representatives, making her the second Philippine president—after Josà © P. Laurel—to pursue a lower office after their presidency. On November 18, 2011, Arroyo was arrested following the filing of criminal charges against her for electoral fraud. He focuses on the familiar individuals such as Charles Wesley and George Whitefield among others and events, which outlined the story of the vibrant Christian movement (Andrews 2005, 662). The author asserts that the revivals in North America and Britain initiated the movement by defining its philosophy, convictions and subsequent direction. In the revivals, characters shaped the main obligations of evangelicals that have existed to date. The book presents a remarkably comprehensive narration of the rise of evangelicalism in the United States. The author fails to justify such claims but only questions whether the movements were genuine work of the Holy Spirit or not. For this reason, thousands of people were ready for the new revival and nothing could stop them from listening to the teachings of Whitefield. Therefore, they never observe Whitefield as an expert marketer. For instance, Whitefield stated that ‘‘it was best to preach the new birth, and the power of godliness, and not to insist so much on the form: for people would never be brought to one mind as to that; nor did Jesus Christ ever intend it’’ (Andrews 2005, 666). In conclusion, since peop le are often responsive to the Word of God, the book provides the concepts of evangelicalism somewhat magnificently. Noll points out how evangelicalism did not reflect the reformation of social structures. It was deeply paternalistic. Apply Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to your every day interactions - Essay Example Maslow suggested that there exists a hierarchy of needs and motives that is the main determinant of human behavior. It has been argued that if the existence of unsatisfied needs drives for higher motivation, then people need to understand and identify those needs which are more important for their successful behavior. In this context, Abraham Maslow proposed a model of human motivation and suggested that the higher-level needs can be satisfied and achieved only after satisfying or achieving the lower-level needs. In this regard, Maslow used a pyramid of needs with five levels, each level depicting each need. In the lowest level there are Psychological needs, such as need for air, water, sleep, and nourishment, which are required for the sustainability of life. In the next level there are Safety needs, such as need for safe area to live, job and financial security, need for medical insurance etc., which are required for safe, secure, and harmless life. In the next level there are Soci al needs, such as need for friends and belongings, need to give as well as receive love, which are required to interact with other people. In the forth level there are esteem needs, such as needs for self-respect, attention, achievement, recognition, reputation etc., which are needed for a person to feel the sense of â€Å"belonging†. In the upper-most level there are Self-actualization needs, such as needs for truth, justice, wisdom etc., which are needed for a person to achieve his full potential in life. The figure below shows the Hierarchy of Needs (Slater and Bremner, 2003, pp. 57-58; Maslows Hierarchy of Needs, n.d., p. 1-3). In my life the need for friends and family is the most. They played most crucial role in motivating me to achieve successes in every sphere of my life. In my life both friendship and love are highly important to achieve potential performances in every section of my life. These needs give me enough strength and
